GlassFish and Apache Derby Simplify jVantage Deployment and Management

GlassFish (Sparky)
Apache Derby
jVantage

jVantage now supports the GlassFish Application Server, the Sun Java System Application Server and the Apache Derby relational database. There is no easier way to deploy and manage your jVantage applications. Here's why:

  1. GlassFish includes a bundled instance of the Derby Relational Database, which means there is no external database to download and install, and no setup steps are required to integrate the application server with the database, such as installing a database driver or defining external data source descriptor files.
  2. The GlassFish console is very intuitive and responsive, providing painless and efficient deployments, easy redeployments, and links that take you directly to the applications you install from within the console itself - a feature that is oddly absent from some other application servers.
  3. GlassFish interoperates exceptionally well with the NetBeans IDE.
  4. GlassFish and the Sun Java System Application Server are, in our opinion, the easiest and most intuitive Application Servers available, with excellent documentation and user support.

> Note that for production deployments, we recommend utilizing a more industrial strength database such as MySql or PostgreSQL. GlassFish with Apache Derby, however, offers the path of least resistence for getting up and running fast.
